In my latest work chapter, I am starting a business with a partner and beginning to work on the shared website we’ll have. As a result, I had to go back and log into Wordpress to start some edits. Turns out, I had blogs there I didn’t even remember creating. Until I remembered!
In one I found a poem I wrote ,and it brought me back to that house and that huge window and those lights. I hope you like it.
Testing the morning
Each night,
you notice the dark
and two small lights
across the street,
always on when the darkness comes,
always off in the light.
Some early mornings,
when the sun
hasn’t quite
made sense of the day,
you ask,
Is it night?
And though I feel like saying yes,
I say no.
It’s day,
but not quite day.
And you ask,
Is it a brand new day?
And I think about that.
Despite the mundane
march
that meets each new day
as an adult,
it is a brand new day,
full of possibilities
that are
as clear to you
as the light across the street
that flickers every night
and fades every morning.
